  9. This is v1.07 of the Stealth 64 DRAM Install/Utilities/Drivers disk set.

  12. AutoCAD 10/11/12 Installation Notes
  13. -----------------------------------
  14.  
  15. To install TurboDLD, run the GO.EXE program from DOS.  The GO.EXE
  16. will install the drivers into the proper AutoCAD directories.  If
  17. you have changed your directories from default you will be
  18. prompted for the appropriate directories.  A file called S64ACAD.BAT
  19. will be created in the directory that you have chosen as your install
  20. directory, C:\ACAD\DRV for AutoCAD 12 and C:\TURBODLD for AutoCAD 10
  21. and 11, by default.
  22.  
  23. To select the newly installed driver run:
  24.  
  25. ACAD -r from the C:\ACAD directory.
  26.  
  27. Then select 3 to change the video driver.  
  28.  
  29. You will be prompted with a list of video drivers, 
  30. select the TurboDLD Classic driver.
  31.  
  32.  * If you do not have TurboDLD Classic as a listed option then
  33.    you may not have your AutoCAD enviroment variables set properly
  34.    or you are out of environment space.  Please refer to your
  35.    AutoCAD manual for troubleshooting techniques.
  36.  
  37.  * Your refresh mode is set by using S64DMODE.  If you have not
  38.    already done so please run the DOS program C:\S64D\UTIL\S64DMODE and
  39.    configure your monitor properly.
  40.  
  41. For features and notes about TurboDLD please refer to the file
  42. READ.ME in the appropriate AutoCAD directory on your hard disk.

  45. DOS Installation Notes
  46. ----------------------
  47.  
  48. Use the GO.EXE file to install DOS/CAD drivers, and Utility files.
  49.  
  50. S64DMODE should be installed for all first-time operations.  This program
  51. controls the frequencies sent to the monitor and will allow the high
  52. resolution and high color modes to synchronize correctly on your screen
  53. (for DOS only).
  54.  
  55. Utilities
  56. ---------
  57.  
  58. S64DMODE.EXE allows selection of text modes, video emulation modes, and
  59. monitor mode frequencies for all environments outside of Windows.  Monitor 
  60. timing information is saved to the S64DMODE.EXE file and is automatically
  61. loaded on power-up or reset.
  62.  
  63. Users with monitors not conforming to the industry preset monitors
  64. provided can select the CUSTOM MONITOR option which allows selection
  65. of frequencies, sync polarities, and screen centering for each video
  66. resolution and color depth.  Please consult your monitor manual for
  67. the exact capabilities of your monitor before selecting monitor
  68. timing.  We strongly urge that selection of monitor timings in CUSTOM 
  69. be made for all resolutions and color depths.

  72. TSR BIOS
  73. --------
  74.  
  75. TSR BIOS can be used in a VESA Local Bus system if the system does not
  76. support video shadowing.  GO.EXE will copy the TSR BIOS to the hard drive
  77. and modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT so that the TSR BIOS will be loaded into the
  78. system memory each time it boots.
  79.  
  80. If the BIOS version is 1.1x, you must copy the TSR BIOS to the hard drive
  81. manually.
  82.     1.  Place DOS/Utilities/CAD/NT Drivers Disk into the floppy drive.
  83.     2.  Change directory to C:\S64D.
  84.     3.  Type A:\PKUNZIP A:\UTIL S64DHPFC.EXE.
  85.     4.  Modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT:
  86.         C:\S64D\S64DHPFC.EXE.
  87.     5.  Reboot the system.

  91.     Known Limitations
  92.     -----------------
  93.  
  94.     DPMS does not support all protected mode programs. These
  95.     include programs such as AutoCad, Microstation, and games
  96.     such as Links 386, Doom, etc.
  97.  
  98.     No 16 color modes are supported.
  99.  
  100.  
  101. Windows NT v3.5 Driver Installation
  102. -----------------------------------
  103.     
  104. You must have Windows NT v3.5 installed with the Standard VGA driver
  105. (640x480x16) before you install the Diamond Stealth 64 DRAM NT v3.5 
  106. drivers.  If you are running a different graphics mode please 
  107. re-configure for Standard VGA.
  108.  
  109. Note that there is only VGA support available for Stealth 64 DRAMs with
  110. the ICS GENDAC.  ICS GENDAC support will be available with the release
  111. of NT 3.51.
  112.  
  113. Once you have confirmed that you are running in Standard VGA, place the
  114. Stealth 64 DRAM Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
  115.  
  116. Open the Windows NT Control Panel.
  117.  
  118. Select the Display Icon.
  119.  
  120. Select Change Display Type.
  121.  
  122. Select Change.
  123.  
  124. Select Other.
  125.  
  126. Confirm that the Driver Disk is in A: (or you can change the drive
  127. letter if the Driver Disk is in another drive).
  128.  
  129. You will now be presented with a list of driver entries -
  130. Select Stealth 64 DRAM.
  131.  
  132.  
  133. You will then be prompted to change your system configuration.
  134. Select Yes.
  135.    
  136. When prompted to install Current or New drivers, select the New option.
  137.    
  138. Confirm the source path.
  139.     
  140. You need to restart Windows NT 3.5 for the changes to take place.
  141.    
  142. Note that the default resolution that installed is 640x480x8 60Hz.
  143.     
  144. From this point on, you can change your resolution/color depth by
  145. using the Display Icon in the Control Panel.  Select the
  146. "List All Modes" button.  This will display all resolutions and
  147. refresh rates available.  Please use the Test option so that you
  148. can confirm that the selected refresh rate and resolution is
  149. supported by your monitor.

  152. Windows NT v3.1 Driver Installation
  153. -----------------------------------
  154.  
  155. You must have Windows NT v3.1 installed with the Standard VGA 
  156. driver(640x480x16).  If you are running a different graphics mode 
  157. please re-configure for Standard VGA.
  158.  
  159. Once you have confirmed that you are running in Standard VGA, place the
  160. Stealth 64 DRAM Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
  161.  
  162. Open the Windows NT setup icon located in your Main program group.
  163.  
  164. Select Options | Change System Settings...
  165.  
  166. Scroll down to the bottom of the Display option and select
  167. "Other Requires Manufacturers Diskette."
  168.  
  169. You will be prompted for the location of this diskette.  The location is 
  170. (assuming that your floppy drive is A:) 
  171. A:\NT31\
  172.  
  173. Select Close.
  174.  
  175. Select your preferred resolution.
  176.  
  177. You will be prompted for the location of a OEM Disk.  The location is 
  178. (assuming that your floppy drive is A:) 
  179. A:\NT31\
  180.  
  181. Close out of the Windows NT setup, you will need to restart Windows NT v3.1
  182. for the changes to take effect.
